Genesis Osagboro / Jah-I-WItness Emcee

Born to the influential musician and poet Olamina of Awareness Art Ensemble (A.A.E.), Jah-I-Witness Emcee was steeped in African consciousness and reggae vibes from the start. With roots running deep into the heart of the Mid-Atlantic’s music scene, he embodies a rich legacy of sound and message. A natural on the mic, Jah-I-Witness takes the role of Emcee to a whole new level. His flow is versatile, effortlessly shifting from hardcore rhymes to soulful melodies. His lyrics blend the conscious messages of his reggae upbringing with the boldness of golden era hip hop, creating a unique and compelling style. As a producer, he crafts warm, organic sounds that pay homage to legends like J Dilla and Lee Scratch Perry. Since making his stage debut in 2001, Jah-I-Witness has shared the spotlight with heavyweights such as Busta Rhymes, KRS-ONE, Dead Prez, The Wailers, Fishbone, and the Sugar Hill Gang. His collaborations include work with Georgia Anne Muldrow, El Da Sensei, and Kool Kim of The UMCs. Currently, Jah-I-Witness Emcee is pushing forward with his “Orange Couch Sessions” content series and apparel line. He's also dedicated to empowering and educating independent artists and publishers through online seminars and in-person workshops.
